Ingredients:

  • 200g of elbow macaroni
  • 50g of butter
  • 50g of all-purpose flour
  • 500ml of milk
  • 200g of cheddar cheese, grated
  • 50g of Parmesan cheese, grated
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp of mustard powder (optional)

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  • Saucepan
  • Colander
  • Mixing Spoon
  • Baking Dish

Instructions:

  • Cook the elbow macaroni in a large saucepan of boiling salted water until al dente, about 8-10 minutes, then drain in a colander.
  • In the same saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until it forms a paste.
  • Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue to cook until the mixture thickens and comes to a gentle simmer.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and add the grated cheddar and Parmesan cheese. Stir until the cheese melts and the sauce is creamy.
  • Add salt, pepper, and mustard powder (if using) to the cheese sauce for flavor.
  • Combine the drained macaroni with the cheese sauce, stirring well to coat all the pasta with cheese.
  • Transfer the mixture into a baking dish and sprinkle some extra cheese on top if desired.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 180ยฐC (350ยฐF) for about 15 minutes until golden and bubbling.
